The Asian Restaurant Awards, organised by the Asian Catering Federation (ACF), are a prestigious awards ceremony which identify the leading restaurants in the country that specialise in Asian cuisines.

Sigiriya Restaurant in Hale,Greater Manchester voted The Best Fine Dining Restaurant at the Asian Restaurant Awards 2022.This is a major honour and an achievement Sigiriya have added to their name, as there was some tough competition for the top spot. The owner, Don Buddhika, thanks his dedication of his staff for being a pivotal reason for achieving the award.

Sigiriya, named after the UNESCO world heritage site, highlights the culture and Sri Lankan authenticity the restaurant represents and the importance of blending the two with food in one name.

Buddhika, initially worked in Dubai as manager of the Jumeirah Beach restaurant and after revolutionising the food and beverage industry there, moved to the UK. He identified a gap in the market, with the lack of authentic Sri Lankan fine dining restaurants, and opened Sigiriya in Manchester in February 2017, pioneering the way to spread the true taste of Sri Lankan cuisine further.

Popularity for the restaurant quickly sky rocketed, quite unexpectedly at first due to the vast competition from other restaurants specialising in Indian cuisine but became a flagship restaurant in Manchester due to the high-quality food, utilising fresh produce, combined with excellent service. Most of the staff have experience working in 5-star hotels in Sri Lanka and are key in maintaining the first-rate service that Sigiriya prides itself in.

With this award Buddhika plans to open another Sri Lankan restaurant to spur SriLankan cuisine further in the UK.
